Am I Pregnant?

The possibility of pregnancy can be shocking, scary, and stressful. It is common to react with the idea that “this cannot be happening to me” and shut down or lash out. If this happened to you, the first step may be to apologize. Only then can you begin to work through the options together. Remember you are not alone! This is a situation many men have found themselves in. Here are a few things that may be helpful while trying to process the information.

  • Anger and fear are normal – It is ok to feel these things, she probably is too. Express yourself honestly and in a calm way to your partner. This will allow you to both be on the same page when deciding on a next step.

  • Talk about it – over the next few days and weeks continue to discuss how a pregnancy will effect both of you and what options that each of you feel comfortable with.

  • Think about it – this is not a time to make quick decisions. After each time you talk, take a minute to yourself to sit down and process what was said. Doing this may bring more clarity to the options that you are choosing.

  • Listen – it is easy to focus on your feelings and desires, but this is not a time to think only of what you want. Listen to her. Her body is going through a multitude of changes physically, chemically and emotionally. She needs your support now more than ever.

Though you each have time to gather accurate information about options, a decision will ultimately have to be made. It is important for you to be involved in that process. You will have to be comfortable with the final outcome of abortion, parenting, or adoption. Sometimes it is beneficial to discuss things with someone who is outside of the situation. At The Pregnancy Center Oxford you both can come sit down and talk with a team specialist about your options, gather information, and receive support in the decision making process. No matter what the outcome, we strive to provide relevant information and support every step of the way.

Note: Every person should be able to express their opinion, but no one should ever feel forced into making a decision

Adoption

At The Pregnancy Center, we can help guide you through your challenging decisions, provide emotional support, provide information and resources.

We can also refer you to adoption agencies that will help you plan for adoption.

Women that are considering adoption may feel:

They aren't ready to be a parent, but do not want an abortion.

They do not want to raise the baby alone.

They are not financially stable to have a child.

Know the Facts:

There are three different types of adoption that may be chosen: closed, semi-open, and open.

If you feel that you are not able to provide for your baby, you can still be a part of your child's life depending on which form of adoption you choose.

3

Abortion

If you think you may be pregnant and are considering an abortion, it is important for you to make an informed decision.

At The Pregnancy Center, we want to provide you with accurate information so that you can make the best decision for your future.

We offer accurate information about abortion, risks, and alternatives, along with free pregnancy testing and ultrasound.

Abortion methods vary depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy so it is very important to have an ultrasound before making your decision.

FAQs

  • Our center typically determines the appropriate time for an ultrasound based on the first day of your last period, which is used in conjunction with a pregnancy tracker to estimate how far along you are. To perform an ultrasound, you must have undergone an in-house pregnancy test with our center, preferably at 8 weeks of gestational age, although we may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Please note that we cannot perform ultrasounds earlier than 6 weeks of gestational age. Additionally, we are unable to provide ultrasound pictures beyond 18 weeks, and recording or taking pictures during the ultrasound is not permitted.

  • We offer all of our services free of charge to the public as a faith-based nonprofit organization. Our funding comes from private and corporate donations, and we are grateful for the generosity of our community, who care deeply about every person who seeks help within our doors.

  • We ask that every client provides a picture ID, however, if a client does not have one or is unable to provide one for confidentiality reasons, we will still provide services and will not refuse assistance to anyone.

Let us work together to identify the services and resources that best meet your needs and goals.
